WE WANT PUBLIC TOILETS ON HAWTHORN ROAD

I have written this letter to the Great Barr Observer also.

I am surprised and disappointed that at in this day and age there is still so little consideration, in some quarters for those who are elderly or disabled.
There are for example some residents, as well as the Birmingham City Council, who do not seem to care, that there are no public toilets in our area, notably on the Hawthorn Road .
For many Disabled residents who use the shops there, the thought of having no toilets available, when they shopping is very off putting.
As Councillor Linnecor quite rightly said recently “the local shops in our area need more support and one of the things which may help get more people to shop locally is having a public toilet on the Hawthorn Road.”
Many other things need to be done. I agree there is need for more variety of shops particularly on Hawthorn Road for example.
However until this Council begins to care about this area and improve thing’s like parking, cleanliness and the lack of public toilets , I fear for all Councillor Keith Linnecors hard work trying to promote local shopping in the area, there will be even more shops being lost.
