MORE DISABLED BAYS AND DISABLED DROP CURBS ARE NEEDED IN OSCOTT

The Oscott Disability Group are continuing to campaign with Councillor Linnecor for more Disabled bay markings and Disabled Drop Curbs.

ODG Chair George Hough Say's "We are pleased that Councillor Linnecor is carrying on the fight with us, as these disabled facilities are really needed. Those disabled residents who have cars, need to get as near to the shops as they can and motorised scooter users, need to be able to get up and down our pavements, on their journey.
I am pleased to find out recently that there will be a new Disabled bay put down by the HSB bank Kettle House Road and we certainly need more."

OSCOTT WARDEN WHAT IS THE FUTURE?

The ORG have been informed that the Oscott Environmental Warden Deborah Parsons has left for pastures new. This is a great disappointment to us as she worked so well with all of our groups.
We now hope all of our Councillors will fight to retain the Position of Oscott Environmental Warden and will be very disappointed if they do not.

FLY TIPPING IS A DISGRACE

In a City like Birmingham where we have a free bulky item collection service and a number of easily accessible Salvage department where rubbish can be taken, it is a disgrace when anti social residents fly tip.
ORG strongly believe the Birmingham City Council should do all in its power to catch and prosecute fly tippers.
For example just look at Booths Lane. There is a camera there to help identify the culprits and still they fly tip. It is time naming and shaming took place also.

WHAT IS THE OSCOTT RESIDENTS GROUP?

THE OSCOTT RESIDENTS GROUP IS- THE INFORMAL LINKING TOGETHER OF- THE OSCOTT RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION, THE NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE INIATIVE, THE OSCOTT ELDERLY RESIDENTS GROUP AND THE OSCOTT DISABILITY GROUP.

Senior members of the groups within the ORG structure meet regularly to discuss issues of mutual concern and to plan activities jointly.

For example
Planning campaigns and organising joint meeting.
Lobbying
Producing leaflets
Sharing experiences and problems on behalf of their members and the community
Holding a drop in session (On Saturday mormings 10.30am at the 610 Community Centre.) where residents can meet and discuss their concerns informally with members of ORG.

WHY ARE THE TREES IN COURTENAY ROAD NOT BEING PRUNED?

Along with the Oscott Central Neighbourhood Forum we are demanding an explanation from the Council's Tree section as to why only 4 Trees in Courtenay Road have been pruned. This is simply not good enough given the state the remaining trees are in and we want answers.

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THIS COUNCIL AND BIRDBROOK ROAD

The ORG and local residents are fed up with this Council and its lack of action regarding , speeding , parking and the state of the carriageway in Birdbrook Road. It is time they took action and dealt with these issues.
ORG agree with Councillor Keith Linnecor's comments in the Great Barr observer recently when he said" the SuttonColdfield College should get on and have their new building build further down the College Road , as the current site is causing so many parking problems with its students parking" we also agree with his comments that action to ease the problem is needed now.
The state of carriage way and speeding problems are simply being ignored by the Council and it is not good enough. We will continue to ask the Council to take action and will work with the Osccott Central Neighbour Hood Forum to this aim.
